Birzeit University Friends Association and Birzeit Municipality Strengthen Partnership on Bus Stops Project

Birzeit – In a step aimed at enhancing student services and improving the environment surrounding the university campus, the Birzeit University Friends Association and the Birzeit Municipality signed an addendum to renew their strategic memorandum of understanding concerning the installation of bus stops within the town of Birzeit.

The signing ceremony took place at the Birzeit Municipality headquarters, where the municipality was represented by its Mayor, Eng. Awadallah Awad, while the Association was represented by its Chairperson, Ms. Nisreen Hidmi Masrouji, in the presence of representatives from both parties. This signing reaffirms the sustainability of the partnership between the municipality and the Association, as well as their shared commitment to developing services provided to students and improving the surrounding university environment, placing students’ needs and interests at the forefront of priorities.

Under this extension, the agreement will continue for an additional five years until 2031, with expansion into additional vital locations frequently used by both students and residents. These bus stops serve not only as functional spaces providing safe and comfortable waiting areas for students during their daily commutes, but also as advertising platforms whose revenues support scholarship programs. This reflects the Association’s vision of leveraging all available resources to ease the financial burden on students and strengthen their resilience.

On this occasion, the Birzeit University Friends Association expressed its deep gratitude and appreciation to the Birzeit Municipality, represented by its Mayor and staff, for their unwavering support and facilitation, which reflect their strong belief in the Association’s mission toward students. The Association also praised the municipality’s complementary role and its tireless efforts in ensuring the success of this service-oriented and revenue-generating project, affirming that this cooperation stands as a model to be emulated in supporting the educational journey and developing the city of Birzeit in a manner befitting its students and residents.
